ANNOUNCEMENTS

For those that may have been wondering about the whereabouts of classmate David Motes, I saw today an obituary published in he Times Union that he passed away at the VA hospital in Gainesville in 2008. David was a good friend of mine in school but we lost contact after graduation. It was "give me 'Motes and Moccia' " on the football practice field. Many memories.

Here's some information about our classmate, Bill Warner and his wife Jane, that you might not have heard. I've known of the Concours d'Elegance and the financial support to Community Hospice for years. Having this newest inpatient center named for Jane and Bill is fitting and a well deserved honor.

On July 10, 2014,the newest Community Hospice of Northeast Florida inpatient center “The Warner Center” opened to accept patients in Fernandina Beach.

The Warner Center is named in honor of Jane and Bill Warner. Jane and Bill Warner are the founders of the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance. From it’s inception in 1996, Community Hospice of Northeast Florida has been and remains the Concours’ principle charity. Bill has raced cars since 1978, served as an award winning contributor for Road and Track magazine, and assembled a diverse car collection. He has been recognized on numerous occasions for his contributions to the quality, visibility and growth of classic car collecting. Through the Concours d’Elegance , the Warners have brought international attention, tourism and business to Amelia Island, Fernandina Beach and Nassau county.

I lost one of my best friends, Bernon Abbott, from Landon's Class of
1960. Bernon passed away Sunday Feb.22,2015. May God rest his soul.

Hi Everyone,

Bill Warner suggested I share our higher education foundation plans......we're working with the Wounded Warrior Project in Jacksonville to assit them with creating their own private, non-profit accredited college. This institution designed to assist those returning from combat with acquired learning disabilities and to educate them for individual empowerment and self-sufficiency.

Best to all and see you soon!
