Plans for our 65th reunion are progressing.  Friday night will be dinner at the San Jose Country Club.  Saturday lunch will be BBQ at the Warner's "Garage Mahal" (2691 Scott Mill Lane). The dinner and lunch dates were reversed from the original plan because of a big wedding at San Jose (and we were not invited). C'est la vie.

Schedule:

Friday night:  6:00 PM, San Jose Country Club, 7529 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville 32217; cost is $50.00/person , Payable on arrival to the "Landon High Class of 1961". Attire: Sport coats or resort casual.

Saturday morning: 10:00am (start time for both options)   

OPTION 1:  ORLECK

Tour of USS Orleck (DD-886) Naval Warship Museum (610 E. Bay Street) with William Harrell from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Admission to ORLECK is $20.00 donation. Wear comfortable shoes; No open toe shoes or skirts. Dress for weather (1/2 tour on weather decks, 1/2 in interior spaces). Mobility requires going between multiple decks via 4 warship style ladders (steep, like a step ladder). 

OR

OPTION 2: Brumos

Tour of the Brumos Collection, (5159 San Pablo  Road, S., off J. Turner Butler Blvd at the  ICW Bridge to Ponte Vedra). The Brumos Collection feature historically significant cars from the first car to win a race, 1894 Peugeot, including actress' Delores Del Rios 1930 Cord L29 Limousine among over 50 other rare and significant cars of the past. Cost: FREE. Wear comfortable shoes, casual attire. 

 

Saturday 12:30 PM, Lunch

A barbeque lunch at the  Warner's Garage Mahal (BW Enterprises), 2961 Scott Mill Lane (at I-295 and San Jose Blvd (SR 13).  Enjoy a taste of the 50's and 60's among classmates from 1961.Cost: FREE. Wear casual clothes. 

There are five questions we need answered:

1) Are you coming and will you be bringing a spouse, guest, significant other, or is someone on the work release program coming with you? We need their names.

2)  Do you plan to attend the Friday dinner at San Jose? If so, will you bring any guest(s)? How many?

3)  Do you plan to attend the Saturday 10:00 USS Orleck tour?

4) Do you plan to attend the Saturday 10:00 Brumos Collection tour?

5) Do you plan to attend the Saturday 12:30 luncheon. If so, will you bring guest(s)? How many?

We NEED these questions answered in order to plan for the food and tour visits.

For those coming from out of town, we can recommend the Tru by Hilton Jacksonville's South Mandarin, at I-295 at San Jose Blvd.  Rate is approximately $105/night. It is new and includes a breakfast.

To avoid all the credit card mess and details for us at this age, we will keep the financial side of this deal simple.  Just pay when you get here but it is important that you timely advise us of your meal and tour intentions.  No advance attendance information for us, and maybe, no food or drinks for you (at least with our group).
