Tell us about what you've been doing, i.e. hobbies, community service, business, travel.
After college, I married my Marine Captain and we lived in various bases till he left active duty in 1968. Our first son was born 3 months before he went to Viet Nam as a fightere pilot. When he got back, we moved to Minnesota because thats the base for Northwest Airlines where he got a job after leaving the Corps. OUr second son was born there and we lived there till we moved to our farm in Wisconsin (Wilson) in 1974.
Over the years, I substitute taught because I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom. I've never regretted that decision and have been able to teach in other ways like Boy Scouts, Sunday School, and Ladies Bible study. I taught ESL to three little boys from Brazil and informed we might get Hmong children in our area, so I went back to college and studied Chinese and German. I LOVED going back to colloege and made friends from China who still communicate with me. German was just fun because of my German heritage.
Over the years, we've traveld to Hawaii and Europe with our children. We moved back to Florida in 1995 because my husband was about to retire in a year and Daddy got Alzheimers. We kept our farm because our son is also a pilot with Northwest (now Delta) and we thought he might be based in Minneapolis. As it turns out, he and his wife live in Michigan and we loved the farm so much, we kept it as our summer home.
Oour greatest blessing is the birth of our identical twin grandsons in March after our son and his wife had been waiting for this event 12 years. It has been a long time for me and Dick to finally have grandchildren, but it is worth the wait. Dick and I celebrate 46 years of marriage in October and our lives have been filled with blessings.
I am sorry I will not be able to attend the reunion as we are always at our farm in Wisconsin during the summer, but I really enjoy reading about our classmates. I send my best wishes for a wonderful reunion.
